How are GPS satellites powered?
GPS satellites are powered by solar energy. They have backup batteries onboard to keep them running in the event of a solar eclipse, when there's no solar power. Small rocket boosters on each satellite keep them flying in the correct path. ChaCha on!

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon's orbit takes it to a position between the Earth and the Sun. The moon's image makes it appear that a 'bite' is taken out of the sun.
