How bad does a cortisone injection in the hip joint for bursitis hurt?

Hurt A cortisone injection will hurt, but they will carefully numb the area before giving you the shot. It will be sore afterwards, but you can alternate heat and ice to make it feel better. Disadvantages of cortisone injections are the necessity of piercing the skin with a needle as well as potential short- and long-term side effects. ChaCha!

That depends on your pain tolerance as well as the person giving the injection some say it hurts a lot some say not much so it really just depends.

Having had this done myself, I can tell you that it is not so terrible. They give you numbing medicine before the actual cortisone shot and it makes it bearable. It also does not take very long and will be over before you know it. Bursitis is usually not infectious, but the bursa can become infected. ChaCha!
