If we take the quadratic equation and say that x1=2 and x2=2.5 we can work out that this is true. Now we look at x+x. x1+x1=2+2. x2+x2=2.5+2.5. Since x1+x1=x2+x2, 2+2=5.

The equation 2 + 2 can not ever be equal to 5. The answer to the problem will always be 4. 2.5 + 2.5 is equal to 5 however. ChaCha!

I doesn't, not unless that 5 is really a 4 in disguise! 2+2 = 4. Thanks for asking ChaCha! Tell your friends about ChaCha!

The phrase "2 + 2 = 5" was originally a Communist slogan in the USSR. However the 2 letters FI plus the 2 letters VE do equal 5.
