How can I get a car dealer's license in California?
Whether you want to sell new or used cars (and once you have successfully completed the dealer training program, in the case of used car applicants), you will need to file an application for a dealer license. To get a car dealers license in California, you must first take a dealers course (approx. $150). After you take your course you need to provide proof and do to the DMV and take a test. Then you will need to provide proof that your business location is approved by the city for auto sales. Lastly, you will have to pay a $150 application fee to the DMV.

A California dealer license gets you into auctions only dealers can attend. Cars in these auctions typically sell at below wholesale. There are dealer auctions throughout the country. All you need is one dealer license in any state and you can enter any dealer auction in the entire country, even Canada! ChaCha!
