Husband In 1641, the poem "To My Dear and Loving Husband" was written by Anne Bradstreet, a Puritan and one of America's first female poets. This poem is about a woman's love and appreciation for her husband. In the first line, the speaker says "If ever two were one, than surely we". The speaker is telling her readers, if two people in the world were meant to be, than it is you and me. She is also referring to them as a whole, not two individual people.
