How could you describe, geometrically, the position of the moon, earth, and, sun during solar eclipse?
During a lunar eclipse, the earth is positioned directly between the moon and the sun. During a solar eclipse, the moon is directly between Earth and the sun. If the Moon's shadow happens to fall on Earth's surface at that time we see some portion of the Sun's disk eclipsed by the moon. ChaCha again soon!

About Solar Eclipse
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon's orbit takes it to a position between the Earth and the Sun. The moon's image makes it appear that a 'bite' is taken out of the sun. The moon can completely cover the sun (at least it appears so) during a total eclipse of the sun. These are very rare, and in ancient times were thought to be mystical occurrences.
