About Ice Skating
Ice skating is the process of moving across ice on ice skates. Ice skates are boots with sharpened metal blades on the bottom that cut into the ice and allow for greater control. People skate on ice for many different reasons, including leisure, traveling and sports like hockey, speed skating, figure skating and ice dancing. People used to only be able to skate in the winter when naturally occurring bodies of water like lakes, ponds and rivers froze over.
