Singer Layne Staleys band Sleeze broke up in '86. He formed Alice N Chainz & after meeting Jerry Cantrell,made it Alice In Chains.

About Alice in Chains
Alice in Chains rose to fame during the grunge movement in the early 1990’s along with other Seattle bands Nirvana and Pearl Jam. AIC was one of the most successful music acts of the 1990’s, selling over 35 million albums worldwide. The original singer, Lanye Staley, died of a drug overdose in 2002.
