Amy Winehouse, born Amy Jade Winehouse on September 14, 1983 in London, England, died on July 23, 2011 in her apartment. It is presumed she died of a drug overdose. She was a Grammy Award-winning British pop singer. She had been part of the revival of soul music in Britain and a fashion muse to designers like Karl Lagerfield. Her distinctive beehive hairdo and unfortunate drug and alcohol incidents kept her in the public's eye.
