How did candidates in the election of 1800 campaign?
Marked by a series of state battles for party control of electoral votes, the 1800 campaign alternated between principled discussion of national issues and vituperative attacks against the alleged character flaws of the candidates. Also there were no “official” vice presidential candidates in the election of 1800.
