The Gulf War (August 2, 1990 - February 28, 1991)was a war waged by a U.N.-authorized coalition force from thirty-four nations led by the United States against Iraq. It ended with a cease-fire agreement after Iraq retreated out of Kuwait.

About Gulf War
The first conflict in the Persian Gulf involving the United States and Iraq was part of an multi-national United Nations force to push Iraqi armed forces out of the oil-rich country of Kuwait in 1991. Iraqi forces were driven out of Kuwait 100 hours after operations began.

Iraq is a Middle Eastern nation, bordered by Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. The capital of Iraq is Baghdad. Iraq is home to a Muslim majority population, although it has historically been run by a secular government. The religious population contains both Sunni and Shiite Muslims, as well as Christians and some Jews.
