How did the ocean form?
The oceans formed on Earth 3.8 billion years ago. Some of the gases in the new atmosphere were methane, ammonia, water vapor, & carbon dioxide. Water on Earth stayed in gaseous form until the planet's surface cooled below 100 degrees Celsius. At this time, water condensed into rain. Water collected in low lying areas which gradually became the primitive oceans. ChaCha on!!

About Water
Water is by far the most important substance on Earth. Water covers over 70 percent of the planet and makes up between 50 and 75 percent of the human body. In fact, it's one of the only things we are positive needs to be present for life to exist. When scientists look for life in our solar system and on exoplanets, they are looking for liquid water.
