How did the stable buck hurt his back in of mice and men?
The book never says exactly how he hurt his back. His nickname "Crooks" comes from the fact that his back is crooked. It's suggested that he was born that way, or a defect from early childhood. ChaCha!

Of Mice and Men is a story written by John Steinbeck that tells the story of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers during the Great Depression in California.
