How did the U.S. justify its intervention into the internal affairs of Latin American countries?
The Roosevelt’ Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine (1904) establishes the United State’s ability to intervene in the affairs of Latin American nations. He stated that the Monroe Doctrine (1823) required the US to act as “an international police power”. This was used to justify US actions in Cuba, Panama and other Latin American locales.
