How did ultra-nationalists in Japan solve Japan's economic problems during the Great Depression?
The extreme disparity in economic & military power between Japan & the western powers was a cause for concern for the early Meiji leadership. Only with a strong economic base could Japan afford to build a strong, modern military along western lines.
