How did world war I affect farmers?

World War I The period immediately after the civil war is known as "Reconstruction" which is generally considered to be between 1865 to 1877. During reconstruction African Americans made great political progress, gaining the right to vote. Farmers in America were able to expand into the West due to the increase of railroads that were built during the war, so food production increased.
