Russia The war was not going well for Russia and the mounting death toll and starvation at home added to the stress of the population. Russia planned to invade Asia, perhaps Korea, to gain a sea port. Japan attacked Russia and scored impressive victories. These conditions lead to an insurrection and the royal family (Czar) was deposed. Thanks for using ChaCha!
