How do desalination plants turn ocean salt water into fresh drinking water?
There are two main ways that desalinization plants turn salt water into fresh drinking water. The traditional method is by distillation (boiling), using a multi-stage process to separate out the salt. The other is reverse osmosis which uses multiple membranes to remove the salt. In all cases it is an energy intensive process. ChaCha!
