How do you define the civil war?
A civil war is a war between political factions or regions within the same country. In the US it was the war fought from 1861 to 1865 between the North and the South, sparked off by Lincoln's election as president but with deep-rooted political and economic causes, exacerbated by the slavery issue. The advantages of the North in terms of population, finance, and communications brought about the South's eventual surrender at Appomattox ChaCha FTW!

As war has become more technologically advanced, it paradoxically has become less effective as a means of solving human conflict. War has largely become a contest between highly equipped armies and small bands of guerrillas. The large armies often find themselves unable to 'win' a war.
