About alcohol
The most commonly used alcohol is ethanol and has been produced and consumed by humans for a millennia, in the form of fermented and distilled alcoholic beverages. As with anything, alcohol can be a great or terrible thing. Ethyl alcohol, or ethanol, is an intoxicating ingredient found in beer, wine, and liquor. Alcohol is produced by the fermentation of yeast, sugars, and starches.

Alcohol poisoning is the result of ingesting so much alcohol that the body is poisoned. Vomiting, cold clammy skin and slow breathing are all symptoms of alcohol poisoning, and if someone you know exhibits these symptoms they should get medical help immediately, as it could be fatal.

About Poisoning
Before we get into the details of poisoning – if you or anyone you know has ingested a poison, please call poison control (1-800-222-1222) and get to the emergency room as soon as possible. The severe signs of poisoning include: nausea, vomiting, pain, trouble breathing, seizure, confusion and abnormal skin color. Poison is anything ingested that injures or kills by the way its chemical process reacts with the body. Poisons can be drunk, eaten, absorbed through the skin, inhaled or injected.
