To make ice cream take 5 egg yolks, 2/3 cups sugar, 1 cup half and half, 2 T of butter, 1 cup whipping cream and 2 t of vanilla extract. Beat the eggs and sugar until blended then pour into double boiler. Stir in half and half and cook over boiling water until thick. Stir in butter and stir occasionally as it cools at room temp.
