How does a mushroom coral protect itself?

Rate This Answer

Mushroom coral grows to be about 6 inches across and has 2 different appearances. With a short stem and a cap, it looks like a mushroom when it is closed up tight. It looks something like a flower when its tentacles are stretched out for feeding. At the end of the tentacles, there are poisonous stingers that catch tiny animal plankton as they drift by the mushroom coral. Mushroom coral can be one color or multicolored.
