Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive disorder, is a psychological disorder based on cyclical mood swings. People in a manic state can be energetic, positive and productive. In extreme manic states people can experience hallucinations and delusions. Conversely, people in the depressive side of the cycle can exhibit the opposite behaviors of the manic state with a propensity for suicide. For some it can be crushing, but for others it can lead to creativity, goal striving, and positive achievements.
