How does a tornado evolve from a thunderstorm?
After the thunderstorm gust front passes and before precipitation, if any, arrives, blowing dust often is kicked up by thunderstorm induced winds. The amount of dust depends on soil type, soil moisture content, and wind intensity. If the wind is intense enough, this dust will evolve into a tornado!

About Tornado
A tornado (also known as a twister or cyclone) is a violent, rotating whirlwind of air that comes in contact with land. Tornadoes come in different shapes and sizes but are always circulating funnels produced by a storm. The Enhanced Fujita scale measures the intensity of a tornado with an EF5 being the largest. Tornadoes are one of the most dangerous natural disasters and tornado winds can reach up to over 300mph.
