How does NASA use hydrogen?
NASA uses hydrogen gas as rocket fuel to deliver crew and cargo to space and has developed extensive experience in the safe and effective handling of hydrogen. For example, the rocket engines of each shuttle flight burn about 500,000 gallons of cold liquid hydrogen with another 239,000 gallons depleted by storage boil off and transfer operations. ChaCha!

About NASA
NASA, also known as The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is a government agency responsible for the nation's civilian space program. NASA was created on July 29, 1959 as a result of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA). NASA headquarters are located in Washington D.C. The agency has a budget of around $17 billion dollars a year.
