About Tobacco
Tobacco is a plant of the genus species Nicotiana. It is grown within a warm climate and can be found all over the world. The leaves of the tobacco plant are harvested, dried and then used in for smoking, chewing, dipping tobacco or snuff. It is is an ancient stimulant that grew in popularity in the 20th century as cigarettes provided a convenient and portable way of easily smoking it. Tobacco has been found to cause cancer when smoked or chewed, and nicotine in tobacco is addictive.

Through its delivery mechanism, cigarettes and chewing tobacco, it is also the leading preventable cause of disease, disability and death in the U.S, accounting for 90% of lung cancer cases, or 38,000 deaths per year. It is illegal in most U.S. states to sell cigarettes and chewing tobacco to people under the age of 18. Some state have raised the age to 19.
