How does temperature effect the metabolism of a person?
The metabolism is based on the number of calories we burn throughout the day. Our body constantly burns calories to keep us going whether we are eating, sleeping, cleaning etc. People with a lower percentage of body fat (i.e. muscular) have a higher metabolism than others that are less muscular because muscle uses more calories to maintain itself than fat.

About Metabolism
Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that maintain life. These processes allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain structure and respond to their environments. Metabolism is divided into tow categories, Catabolism and anabolism. Catabolism breaks down organic matter, and anabolism uses energy to construct components of cells like proteins and nucleic acids.
About Calories
The food we eat and beverages we drink all contain calories, which is a measure of energy. Another definition of calorie is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of water by one degree. It's recommended that humans consume at least 2,000 calories per day in order to maintain their weight and for enough energy to perform daily tasks.
