How does the message of taste go to your brain?

Rate This Answer

Humans receive tastes through sensory organs called taste buds, or gustatory calyculi, concentrated on the upper surface of the tongue. The receptors for the basic tastes of bitter, sweet and umami have been identified. They are G protein-coupled receptors. The responses is mediated by an influx of protons into the cells but the receptor for sour is still unknown. ChaCha!
