How does TOm and Gats by parallel in The Great Gatsby?

The Great Gatsby Gatsby does not meet with Tom in chapter 5 he meets with Daisy, Nick remarks that he is acting like "a little boy." In Daisy's presence, Gatsby loses his usual debonair manner and behaves like any awkward young man in love. Gatsby himself is regressing, as though he were still a shy young soldier in love with a privileged debutante. Tom and Gatsby are in some ways opposite, paralleled by their love for Daisy. Tom is refined, poised, and immensely well known. Gatsby is known for different reasons, just as wealthy, but more of an onlooker than a true social being. ChaCha!
