NASA, also known as The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is a government agency responsible for the nation's civilian space program. NASA was created on July 29, 1959 as a result of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA). NASA headquarters are located in Washington D.C. The agency has a budget of around $17 billion dollars a year.
