How has the US immigration policy changed during the period 1877 present?
In 1887, added to the other immigration laws which began in 1790 was the Alien Contract Labor laws which prohibited certain laborers from immigrating to the United States. Today, there is the US immigration & Naturalization Service which is a part of the Dept. of Homeland Security. They handle new U.S. Citizenship and US immigration services & benefits.
