How have cable TV and the internet affected news coverage for the better and for the worse?
Mass media and television haven't had that much of an impact on news coverage. Blogging and Twitter have affected coverage negatively, because anyone can now report on news, whether it has factual basis or not.

Radio and TV came next, and today, in the internet age, the 'news cycle' has been reduced from 24 hours to a few minutes. Politicians and governments are still figuring out how to deal with the rapidity with which they must react to the changing news environment.
