How is air inhaled into the lungs and how is the oxygen in the inhaled air is transferred to the blood?
Air is inhaled into the lungs by the contraction of the diaphragm, which allows the lungs to increase in volume and draw in oxygen from the environment. This air travels to the alveoli (small structures in the lungs), where the oxygen can diffuse into the capillaries that are embedded here. The oxygen can then travel into the bloodstream from the capillaries. ChaCha!
