About Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement was a worldwide political movement for equality occurring between approximately 1950 and 1980. The Civil Rights Movement in the United States was at its peak from 1955 to 1965. In 1964, Congress passed the Civil Rights Act and in 1965, the Voting Rights Act. Both of these acts guaranteed basic civil rights for all Americans, regardless of race. The time for the Civil Rights Movement was accompanied often by civil unrest and rebellion, and in many countries, not all goals were met but efforts did lead to improvements.
