How is sugar made?
Sugar comes from different sources. 70% comes from sugar cane and 30% comes from sugar beet. It is refined by cooking it and getting several byproducts including molasses.

Sugar is a natural sweetener. The white crystalline stuff we typically find in restaurants and in the sugar jar at home is processed and refined. Sugar from the Sugar Cane plant is typically brown in color and has more of a caramel flavor.
