About Cigarette Smoke
Cigarette smoke is not only toxic to smokers, but secondhand smoke has been found to cause cancer as well. The movement to assure a smoke-free environment in offices, bars and restaurants has grown out of the knowledge of the dangers of cigarette smoke.
About Teeth
Teeth are small, white structures made of calcium that are found in the jaw bone of animals and humans. The shape of an animal's teeth determine what that animal eats. Herbivores eat plants, which are hard to digest. As a result they have a mouth full of molars to grind and chew their food. Carnivores eat meat, so their teeth are designed to kill prey and rip flesh. Humans are omnivores, so we have a little of both.
About Hours
An hour consists of sixty minutes. We measure out our days in hours; when we are having fun, an hour is short. While we are suffering, an hour is very very long. In the Middle Ages (the 5th century to the 15th century) Christian monks and artists created 'Books of Hours.' They contained prayers and psalms for each hour of the day. They were 'illuminated,' that is, their texts were illustrated in gold ink and brilliant colors. The Cloisters Museum in NYC has a wonderful collection of Books of Hours.
