How long does a 17.25 pound turkey take to cook in the oven?
You should cook a turkey until it is done but not over-done. You measure cooking time not w/a clock but w/a thermometer. The final temperature after resting for 15-20 mins, should be at least but not much more than 165F. The temperature will continue to rise 5-10 degrees after the turkey is out of oven. Oven roasting a 18lb turkey @ 325F usually cooks for 4.25 hours.
