How long does a professional tennis match last?
A top-class tennis match may last over 2 hours and players require high levels of aerobic fitness. A player's average heart rate reaches 60-70 per cent of its maximum level and a burst of maximum activity occurs each time a player contests a point. A point lasts about 12-15 seconds and there may be more than 500 points contested during a match.
