The last time Halley's comet was visible from planet Earth, you could see it intermittently from January 1986 until late April 1986 with interruptions when it was behind the sun, etc.

About Comet
A comet is a giant ball of ice, dust, and rocks in orbit around the sun. As it comes near the sun, the comet begins to melt and leaves a trail of ice and debris behind. Approximately one comet is visible to the naked eye every year, but some are brighter and more obvious than others.
