How long does it usually take a baby to come, once the cervix are soft?

Your cervix softening may start in late pregnancy, before labor has begun, particularly if this is your first baby. Days or hours before labor starts your cervix may start to open a little, and the mucus plug may come out. This is called a show. It looks a bit like jelly and can be stained with blood.
