The Straits of Mackinac separates the upper and lower peninsulas and joins together Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The Upper Peninsula is bordered to the north by Lake Superior and Canada, to the west by Minnesota, to the south by Wisconsin and Lake Michigan and to the east by Lake Huron and Canada. The Lower Peninsula is bordered to the north by the Straits of Mackinac, to the west by Wisconsin and Lake Michigan, to the south by Indiana and Ohio and to the east by Lake Huron, Canada and Lake Erie.
