How many out counts retires an inning?
In Major League Baseball (MLB), for innings 1 through 8, there are 6 outs to retire an inning (3 for each side). For the 9th inning, there can be either 3, 4, 5 or 6 outs to retire the inning, depending on the score, as the home team no longer bats once they lead the game in the 9th inning.
