About September 11th
September 11, 2001 was the day that the United States was subjected to an attack by Al-Qaeda, a foreign terrorist group. The World Trade Center and the Pentagon were both hit by hijacked airplanes, and another airplane that was destined for the White House was brought down by civilians in a field in Pennsylvania. A remembrance tower for the thousands of missing and dead has been built on the space where the twin towers once stood.

The World Trade Center consisted of two identical buildings, which were dubbed the financial capital of the world. The occupants of the buildings managed some of the world's biggest financial transactions every day. The towers were destroyed during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, but the distinctive twin towers of the World Trade Center remain in the cultural memory of NYC. Currently, the site is being rebuilt to include six skyscrapers and one memorial area.
