Daytona International Speedway is a 2.5 mile tri-oval with 31 degree banking in the turns and 18 degrees in the tri-oval. Many different types of races are held at the speedway included NASCAR, Grand-Am, ARCA, and AMA sport bike. One of the most popular races held there is NASCAR's Daytona 500. The fastest lap ever recorded was Bill Elliott in 1987 with a lap time of 42.783 at a speed of 210.364mph. In 1988 restrictor plates where introduced to slow the cars down.
