Scientists decided that Pluto was too small to be a planet, and was redesignated as a "dwarf planet," and is the largest body in the Kuiper Belt, which is a belt of asteroids that encircles the entire solar system. Pluto, depending on where it is in its orbit between 4.4 billion and 7.4 billion km from the sun.
