A fetus can hear noises in the mother's body starting at about 18 weeks into pregnancy. At 19 weeks, he or she may hear mom's voice. By the third trimester, many fetuses will be seen on a sonogram to respond to loud external noises. At eighteen weeks, a fetus is only 5.5 inches long!
