About Supernova
A supernova is a gigantic explosion which produces a burst of radiation that expels most or all of a star's material. The astronomical event occurs when the gravitational force of a star surpasses the Chandrasekhar limit or in a number of other ways. Approximately one supernova occurs in the Milky Way galaxy every 50 years.
