Stephen William Hawking (b. Jan 8 1942) is an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist and author. Nearly completely paralyzed for much of his life, Hawking became the leading theoretical scientist of physics from a wheel chair. He is the author of A Brief History of Time, and is responsible for several of the leading scientific theories on the origin of the universe.
