Ringo Starr's tonsillitis was sever enough that during the Beatles' June 1964 world tour he was hospitalized with severe tonsillitis; session drummer Jimmy Nichol filled in with the Beatles in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Asia and Australia, while Ringo had his tonsils removed in England at London's Universal College Hospital. The Beatles' hit that week is I Feel Fine.

About Ringo Starr
Richard Starkey, known by the stage name Ringo Starr, was born on July 7, 1940 in Liverpool, England and grew to stardom as the drummer for the Beatles. He was featured as the lead vocalist on the hit Beatles songs ''With a Little Help from My Friends'' and ''Yellow Submarine.'' After the Beatles broke up, Starr continued on as a solo artist, releasing 16 albums between 1970 and 2010.
