How to find a common denominator

To find a common denominator, list multiples of each, when they match, that's the one, such as 3/4 and 4/12, common denominator is 12, 4X3 and 12X1,

To find the least common denominator, simply list the multiples of each denominator (multiply by 2, 3, 4, etc.) then look for the smallest number that appears in each list.
